Dustin + Kristen {the Proposal}

Several months ago Dustin, who lives in Arkansas, contacted us with an elaborate (and awesome!) plan to propose to his girl!  The ‘plot’ went something like this …

Dustin’s Mom was in Charleston and while in Charleston, entered Dustin’s fiance, Kristen, in a ‘make-over’ contest.  A local salon, Salon Bellezza, was giving away a free make-over day that included the works, even before/after photos. [Naturally] Kristen won and the planning began.

Kristen arrived in town, was picked up by Charleston’s Black Cab Company, and taken straight to the salon, where she was pampered, well taken care of, and spent the afternoon there relaxing.  Once ready, she was taken downtown to the Waterfront Park for her “after” photos.  Meanwhile .. Dustin was staked out at the park waiting strategically for just the right moment. And when the opportunity presented itself, Dustin walked up to his distracted bride-to-be, got on one knee, and asked her to marry him …

For multiple reasons Charleston is special to Jenna and I.  But one big reason in particular is that this is where we got engaged as well as.  All throughout the planning with Dustin and even the day of, it brought back so many fond memories and good times. So a big THANK YOU to Dustin and his Mom Zina (the incredible coordinator who ensured the secret remained so) for seeking us out and letting us be a part of the story!  And, thank you Julie and the folks at Salon Bellezza for being the foundation of the plot and making the day so fun!

[ Side note .. the song in the video was a live recording from a recent wedding we shot and was performed by the groom’s sister & brother in law for the first dance.  Pretty amazing folks we get to be around! ]

Photos do & forever will have a special meaning to our family.

For several years we were blessed by photography, & we like to think that part of that blessing was through loving others.
